Aldoga renewable energy project

The Aldoga Renewable Energy Project in Gladstone is Economic Development Queensland’s flagship renewable energy project. The project supports the State’s objectives under the Our Future State: Advancing Queensland’s Priorities and contributes towards the State’s target of achieving 50 percent of our energy from renewable energy by 2030.

Following a competitive Expression of Interest process, Acciona Energy has been selected to transform 762 hectares at Aldoga into a solar energy project. Acciona Energy will design, build and operate the solar project. It is anticipated that construction will commence in 2020.

At maximum capacity of up to 250 megawatts (AC), the renewable energy project will deliver the equivalent amount of energy needed to supply up to 122,000 households (around five times the number of households in Gladstone). As a supplier of renewable energy, Acciona Energy has been actively discussing proposed off take arrangements with numerous industrial and commercial customers within the Gladstone region.

This significant project will support up to 240 construction jobs for Queenslanders. Acciona Energy will adopt Buy Queensland and Gladstone Buy Local procurement policies, giving preference to local sub-contractors and manufacturers and providing a substantial additional economic focus within the Gladstone region.
